The exhibition explores the complex relationship between Belgian artists and communist ideology during the 20th century. It is part of a reflection on the way in which political utopia influenced artistic creation in Belgium. The project echoes academic research on artists such as René Magritte, Frans Masereel or Frits van den Berghe, often associated with communist commitments or sympathies. Regards pluriels proposes to analyze the works of these artists to understand whether a specific Belgian communist aesthetic existed, oscillating between social realism, engaged surrealism and constructivist avant-garde.
